May Monthly Meetup - May 5, 2006

The Meeting was participated by more than 35 professionals from various different organization including Satyam, Kanbay, Oracle, Infosys, Motorola, Cordys, Nuevora, Value Momentum, NCR, Think Design, Kern Communication, and CA along with students from NID.

Minutes of Meeting

The May Monthly Meetup was held on 5th of May, 2006 as Proposed CHI-Hyderabad Meet up and started at 5:45 PM.

The participants after marking their attendance were handed a folder containing a copy of Activity Plan and Bylaws that was submitted to the CHI for opening the CHI-Hyderabad Chapter.



The meeting was opened by Raman Saxena, UI Architect - CA; through presentation stating the Goals, Representing Organizations, and Status of Chapter petition.



Participants were asked to provide their feedback and inputs on the Chapter Goals, Activity Plan and Bylaws.





Following this, Sridhar Mari, AVP & Head CDG - Infosys talked on "Integration of User Centric Design with Software Development Life Cycle in Infosys". Sridhar emphasized on how usability can be integrated in the project life cycle and its benefits for an organization and the users. He shared his experience on Usability ROI and also talked about various levels of customer maturity in terms of UCD. He also spoke about the proposed initiative to open a design school within Infosys to train designers and other interested people in this domain.





The talk was followed by a brainstorm session in which participants discussed the Chapter Goals, Activity Plans. Participants came up with different topics and focus areas for the proposed CHI-Hyderabad activities such as: Awareness about Usability and UCD amongst the broad IT community including the Sr. Management of the organizations. Involvement of people from all IT domains in CHI-Hyderabad activities to spread the UCD process and methodologies and understanding Identifying the gaps between the software engineering and Usability engineering and address the same. Methodologies to align UCD process in the Software development life cycle. Organizing appreciation level workshops for the Non- UCD professional. Creating and organizing poster campaigns in the industry.

It was agreed that participants would send further feedback on the Chapter goals, Activity Plan and Bylaws through email and then collated.The received inputs from the members will help identify few activities which could be taken forward after next month meeting.

The meeting concluded at 8: 30 PM after an informal chat over snacks. Participants interacted and exchanged ideas informally and discussed their interest and focuses.
